Let’s Move: The Fight Against Childhood Obesity

As parents, we have all talked about our concerns around proper nutrition and diet, child hood obesity and the need for more exercise for our kids. I am really excited to see our First Lady Michelle Obama take this to a whole new level!!!

Do What You Love – Money Will Follow –

Several years back, as I continued to ponder my work/family balance, one of my oldest and dearest male friends Jafari Sinclaire Allen introduced me to Marsha Sinetar and her books.  We were sitting around discussing, life, love, friends and goals in his FABULOUS space (at the time).

In my moment of self pity, he talked about my choices, never being critical or negative and then he handed me his copy of –

To Build the Life You Want, Create the Work You Love: The Spiritual Dimension To Entrepreneuring –

Ever since that evening – I began to really consider the idea of happiness as it relates to work.

Several years later, I still hold on to that book (as worn as it may be).  Well, Jafari might not know how important that evening in Jersey City was to my transformation but it truly changed some things.

So today, I want to take this time to shout out to my long time friend in my very first post entitled “Let’s Hear It For The Boy.” Believe it or not Jafari has been my buddy since Junior High School and through it all, even if we don’t talk daily still holds a special place in mine and my family’s life.”

So, this one’s for You “Uncle Jafari” as my kids now refer to him – and thanks for being in my corner through the years!

People, I have to say that this and other Sinetar books are must have in your Entreprenerial journey (as far as I’m concerned)

On Sarah Palin and other ISH….

During the recent 2008 Presidential Campaign – I was truly on fire!

This election starring Barack Obama vs John McCain will truly go down in history as a series of firsts.  I will go out on a limb and say that it – will be the cycle that redefines the political process in EVERY SINGLE  way.

I could not believe have nasty things got – and in my absolute frustration, I did ALOT of writing just so I’d stay sane.  Well, one of my male friends who also happens to be a writer – captured some of that in an interview entitled “Sarah Palin Is No Hillary Clinton.” That interview with Gary G-Man Toms was truly a look into gender relations – and how people really should not stereotype.

If there is one thing I hope we all learned from the Sarah Palin fiasco – “Just because it looks like a duck, walks like a duck or quacks like a duck, does not mean it IS a duck.” or something about some pigs and lipstick…..

Chris Rocks….

chris-rockwife.jpgRelationships are always tough to handle. Recently I’ve started thinking about the whole concept of marriage and if the whole idea of

“till death do us part” really feasible. I mean generally you take two people from different backgrounds, put them in the same house and expect them to make it happen…Isn’t that the premise behind BIG BROTHER, SURVIVOR and other reality based shows? Just Imagine however, if those same strangers where expected to spend a lifetime together. Inevitably, some leave and some stay….which is why I am questioning the idea and premise of marriage.

So many young ladies grow up wanting the “fantasy” of the wedding day and the bragging rights of saying that I am his wife: I beat out all the other hefers.” How real is that and how prepared are most people to deal with the varying parts of marriage that bring lasting bliss or a collision resulting in divorce. In 16 years, I have often thought about the many phases of my relationship and wondered….

I Think I Love My Wife, offers wonderful insight into the phases and changes of wedded bliss, and as I watched, I could totally identify with, soak it in and chuckle about the entire concept. Nice relationship movie and now,.I really think Chris Rocks!

Arts Education Is The Only Way!

I have always been a strong believer in arts education. The ability to be creative…the ability to see a reality that no one else sees and turn it into something tangible. That to me is the only way that we will be able to salvage our economy!

My very first submission to Associated Content, “The People’s Media Company” was this piece entitled Saving The Economy Through Arts Education....

Here is the perfect example of this….Paintjam Dan!
