What Michael Jackson’s Death Means To The World

Michael Jackson @ Final Rehearsal

Michael Jackson @ Final Rehearsal

First and foremost, I have to once again reach out to the family and friends of the “King of Pop” with condolences. Your Michael will Truly be missed!

To Michael I say, Mission Accomplished!!!

For those that cry out, Michael passed away too soon, I remind you of a quote from my late Dad; “Man Plans, God Dis-plans.” In other words we can make all the plans in the world but the Universe is the ultimate planner.

With this in mind, we must seize every day, every moment and live our lives to the fullest! Put aside the excuses, BUT’s and NO’s and just GO FOR IT. Ask yourself, if you were to die today, would you have truly lived to your fullest potential? Would the world be able to say Mission Accomplished? Or would you be on your death bed saying ” I Wish I had?”

Finally, regardless of what we thought/think of Joe & Katherine Jackson – they have and continue to be the ultimate ENTREPRENEURIAL PARENTS –

Just some thoughts as we prepare to celebrate the life and times of Michael Jackson – July 7th, 2009

RIP – MJ. The world will forever be indebted to you – even THE HATERS!!!!!

Onward & Upward Always,

A few years back as I sat at my office desk, gazing out of the window and wishing to escape,I longed for permission.

Permission to take the leap of faith,to go the extra mile, to risk it all and essentially DANCE – because in my mind, I knew it was time to DANCE into my season and cultivate my entrepreneurial vision.

BUT like most of us, life kept getting in the way-

Then, on Christmas 2002 – my fantabulous mother, who is a “shero” in her own right, gave me a book (Mark D. Sanders & Tia Sillers) complete with CD (Lee Ann Womack) offering the words I needed to hear —

“I HOPE YOU DANCE….Promise me you’ll give faith a fighting chance…”

Fast forward – 10 months later (2003)and a few conspiring “challenges” that would “catapult” and “inspire” me to leave that office, step into the world and become a full-time participant in my entrepreneurial life. In my decision,I did not know all the answers and was not sure of the entire plan but it all just “felt” right!

….”Because I want you to dance as you journey thru life’s good and bad times”are the words inscribed in my book from my MOM-and these are the words I offer each and everyone of you in this post…..

“I HOPE YOU DANCE” inspired by the song by LEE ANN WOMACK.

Until next time,…”I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance”

The new economy, global positioning, parent-hood and just trying to define what it means to be an entrepreneurial parent.
However, when I saw this video today of this group of seniors living their entrepreneurial dream and getting their “groove on” I could not help but be inspired!

Enjoy – and remember you’re never too old to make it happen! GO GET ‘EM Y’ALL —

2009: “Careful What You Ask – For Me, It’s No More Drama!”

As we approach a new year with great hopes and anticipation for CHANGE, I would like to remind everyone to be:

“Careful What You Ask…The Universe Will Deliver!”

The above quote has become one of my favorite sayings of all time. In my journey to Entrepreneurship, “The Law of Attraction” is something I have had to take really seriously. This includes the friends we keep, the family members that surround us and most importantly what we visualize. Sometimes we look @ our own lives and cannot accept the place we find ourselves. The road is hard and we certainly will lose some “friends” along the way but that is part of the journey. Until we take responsibility for our own condition- we cannot make the necessary moves to rescue ourselves and get to the places we want to go. Keep in mind, that some CHANGE might involve getting rid of folks that are not helping you to attract success – spiritually, mentally, emotionally and/or financially.

So, get ready to ring in the new year by COMMITTING TO and FOLLOWING UP on your plans for Real success.

Now, Visualize With Me For:
A Prosperous New Year, In 2009 & Beyond!

And In The Words Of My Girl Mary J……NO MORE DRAMA, PLEASE

What Are You Pregnant With?!??!

Over time, I have often thought of and used the analogy of pregnancy in my journey.

After giving birth to two children, one – au natural and the other with the help of that darn epidural, I have often compared the childbirth experiences with both children. Now, of course I love both of my kids – but I have to say the one that was delivered naturally offered the most opportunity to live in the moment. Dealing with numbing pain, testing my strengths, overcoming pain thresholds, and challenging my weaknesses to ultimately bring forth life – allowed me to see myself, partner, family and world in a totally different way. Let’s put it this way, if I ever underestimated the power of mother nature or the universe and my own potential – after I gave birth, I doubted NO MORE. This is why I often say “Careful what you ask, the UNIVERSE will deliver”

Comparatively, when we become pregnant with ideas, visions, business plans – we must nourish the dream, carry it for a period of time and finally give birth to it. The thing is, many people may never see the full potential of their dreams/pregnancy because some where along the line they choose to terminate. Now, don’t get me wrong – I am certainly not one to tell folks what they should do when confronted with a “pregnant pause” – because ultimately, they will have to deal with their decision – and in this way I am certainly Pro-Choice. I am however, a strong advocate of thinking through the entire process, strategically making decisions and being prepared so that when a pregnancy occurs, you can be in a place (mentally, spiritually, physically, financially) to consider bringing a pregnancy to term.

As an entrepreneur, I am surrounded by a number of innovative thinkers that are talented and are pregnant with any number of ideas. They face daily challenges, struggles, barriers and of course successes. As they travel their individual paths, everyday they are forced to examine their ideas and assess the viability of the life transforming ideas they nurture within.

For some, conception to birth may take 9 hours, 9 days, 9 months or 9 years – but for those that are pragmatic, committed and passionate about the life they have inside, like me, they will find that “natural child-birth” can be a wonderful experience, labor pains and all!

In summation, I’d say that it is tempting to take the “epidural” and the easy way out. It makes the pain less, but please remember that as hard as it might be, the old saying “no pain, no gain” is really valid. Overcoming the pain is what allows us to discover our own strengths and ultimately appreciate our Successes – If we make our choices carefully, and not numb our apparent pain during the struggle – that idea, child, moment or experience – might just be our most transformative…

So, what are you PREGNANT WITH?

Finding Balance In Your Life: It’s a Tao Thang

In my last post, I discussed – The TAO OF INNER PEACE

As I stand watching people in the midst intense global confusion and chaos, I can’t help but notice how people are slowly losing their ground. It seems suicides, murder, and just pure madness is in our midst. Everyone seems to be searching for some sort of peace and it seems that the current US Elections might bring some solace. While we wait for transitions and hope for the best, I’d like to, offer one more morsel of calm in the midst of the storm.

People – must remember that although we elect officials and place faith in things outside of ourselves, we must be certain that PERSONAL answers will not come from organizations, individuals and governments. We must go deep within and find our own our center and balance. We must never allow the instability and currents of a world seemingly gone wild to drown and confuse us: In a crazy sort of way, to find peace – we must give up the NEED to control –

So here’s a bit of spiritual nourishment when you’re feeling overwhelmed and looking for some sanity, think about the following words (feel free to substitute language to meet your own spiritual/comfort zone):

I now know my life is peaceful and harmonious
I lead with Tao
I listen carefully, aware of the cycles within and around me
I cooperate with them
I act with courage and confidence
I work with my team for the good of the whole.
I respect myself and the process.
I harmonize with nature and all others in my world.
I accept greater peace in my life now.
And so it is.

Peace & Blessings To You – As You Seek Balance In The Way Of Nature –

It’s Veteran’s Day: Are You Ready To Fight For Your Life?

One of my favorite quotes is “There is nothing to fear but fear itself.”

What I am come to realize is that our greatest challenge is not believing in our own power. We so often surrender our greatness to others and allow people to define who we are. We accept stereotypes about ourselves and by default surrender our own being in the process.

What I do know for sure ( in the words of Oprah), is that the moment we begin to define ourselves in our own terms – the world will bow down! When I say bow down, I don’t mean it in a forced physical way – I mean it in a spiritual sort of way.

As many of my close friends might know, I describe myself as a spiritual as opposed to a religious person. That’s because I’ve found knowledge and strength by studying and reading about various religious philosophies. So one book that I have enjoyed over the years is The TAO OF INNER PEACE by Diane Dreher. There in, Dreher discusses the idea of personal acceptance and The Self-Fulfilling Prophecy. The Self-Fulfilling Prophecy says that people’s performance match their expectations or What we believe, we create.

So, as we all fight our own personal battles which might include addictions, love, finance, abuse, whatever it is – that CHANGE can only come from within. In other words, to begin your journey of transformation start out by, WATCHING WHAT YOU TELL YOURSELF ABOUT YOURSELF!

Here is an exercise – illustrated in that book from Jack Canfield, of “Chicken Soup” book series fame…

-Go To your mirror, look yourself in the eye and tell yourself things you like about You
(Keep in mind that it will feel strange because we’re so used to beating ourselves up)
-For the next week, go to your mirror at the end of the day and tell You what You appreciate about You.
(It might be that you walked a block for exercise, added one more thing to your business plan, opened the door for a stranger, made the decision to leave a negative space-whatever, it doesn’t matter)
– Finally, call yourself by name and say, “I really love you”

Now for some, this might seem a bit much – but when so many of us hear people tell us what we cannot do, or laugh at our dreams, by affirming ourselves, we might just begin to believe and GOD forbid – we might begin fulfilling our life’s purpose.

As I contemplate and salute veterans everywhere today, I think about what it means to be victorious in battle, and implore you to search deep inside and confront your personal war(s) – because you too can triumph and WIN!

So, It’s Veteran’s Day – And I Ask Once Again, Are Your Ready To Fight For Your Life?
